Two power sources that work as one
The electric motor is cleverly integrated directly between the TSI petrol engine and the 6-speed DSG transmission, so both power sources drive through the same gearset. Together, they deliver up to 200kW of combined output and up to 400Nm of torque , with smooth, familiar shifting and the kind of drive you expect from a Volkswagen. A 1.5 litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine works totally in sync with the electric motor so you can move from A to B with total confidence.

What charging cables are included?
Your new Volkswagen Tiguan plug-in hybrid comes with both Mode 2 & 3 charging cables, standard.
Mode 2 cables can be plugged straight into your existing powerpoints at home, whereas Mode 3 cables charge faster, but require a home mounted EV charger or a public charging station.
What is the fuel consumption of the Tiguan plug-in hybrid?
Both models of the Tiguan plug-in hybrid have exceptional fuel efficiency.

Is it a good idea to buy a plug-in hybrid?
We think so. If you’re not ready or not able to go full-electric, a Tiguan plug-in hybrid gives you the efficiency benefits of an electric motor with the extra reassurance of a hybrid engine when you need it.
How do plug-in hybrids work?
PHEVs come with both a traditional internal combustion engine and an electric motor for extra power and better fuel efficiency. They use regenerative braking to help charge the battery but can also be charged from an electric power source.
